Calanthe Art Cafe.

This is one of the cafe I visited in Melaka , and this deserves an individual post because everything is too vintage. I could see that there is alot of effort being put in in this cafe, where the theme revolves around Malaysia before and after independence. 

Calanthe Art Cafe,

where is located at the famous Jonker Street. 

It was a little difficult for us to find this place until we had to waze it. It didn't really much attract any attention with their low profile exterior. I'm so glad we found it. Can you believe that 9 of us was walking under the sun for this? 

I need to show you pictures of their interior which is a 100% Malaysian themed or based. I'm so proud of this place because they have our country as their theme while other cafes I've visited actually go more to western style. This place deserves ten thumbs up!

They didn't use wallpapers, it's really hand painted! 

This is a whole heritage themed. 

You can even have your coffee here ; god, this gives me so much of feels I cannot explain.

I ordered Green Tea Flavoured Coffee , which represent Perlis .

Have I mention that their different types of coffee are categorized with the 13 states we have in our country?

Besides of stating the origin of how they get the beans to brew the coffee, they also remind us that we also have our local coffee beans which is in high quality. It took us quite sometime to think which state to choose from and some of us chose the state where our hometown is. For me, I am a 100% KL origin so I chose depending on the flavour.

I was surprised with the mixture of green tea and coffee , and it tasted really good. This combination may be weird, but definitely worth the try. 

Not to mention that the floral cup gives more girly vibe , lol.

Affogato , which represent Pahang if I'm not mistaken. 

It's definitely a yes when you have two best things combined - which is vanilla ice cream and espresso! 

I'm sorry that I couldn't snap the others because my mates drank it too fast. All of us were too excited with the kinds of coffee they offered. Even non-coffee lovers were surprise with their way of handling the orders. 

I can't deny that their theme and interior is the one that catch our attention. I didn't try out their local delights because we were heading for our dinner shortly after. 

This place is really beautiful. And I think, this cafe is definitely a good place for tourist. It doesn't only introduce our country indirectly, and it also shows the love towards our own country. It represents how people used to live back then. It is all about vintage. I guess, this cafe is the best in town. #powerMalaysian woohoo !

Besides of the beautiful environment, the coffee is good with reasonable price. Their food also have good reviews online. It's a pity how they do not get as much attention as they deserve. I seriously can't wait for this place to be famous, and allow more tourist to know about this place in heritage town. 

No one would actually think that Melaka has such place , right?

Cristallo Di Luna.

I love night views , thus this selfie is special. It's really difficult for me to catch a good picture with such view , and I could say that this could be the best I've taken that night. The lightning in the restaurant always gets me on my nerves - ( mg , so dark can see what -.-) That only apply to pictures with my face, lol. 

this is really romantic , since it's a table for two.

We went to Cristallo Di Luna ,

which is located at Pacific Regency Hotel Suites. 

But, 

I am on a  dinner date with best friend. 

It's our annual routine. We have things that we have to do each year . Last year , we visited Grand Hyatt. This year , it was pretty impromptu plan because I did not went around the web searching for good restaurants. I just pick the one that I hear from other people , and thankfully it was good. 

And every year, we will tell each other that the next time we visit this kind of place , we will have a partner. 

Well, it has been two years.... lol. 

So we went a little earlier to see the sun set. 

The view is magnificent. 

I never thought that the other side of the city will be so beautiful too. Perhaps there's too many restaurant facing the twins tower , and I guess this is the speciality of the restaurant. The night view reminds me so much of NYC which I always see on tumblr. 

Talking about NYC, 

I'll make it there someday.

We requested for our dinner to serve slowly because we wanted to spend more time talking and enjoying the view. I know that this is something a couple should do . I wonder if the people in the restaurant thought we are together because we are literally feeding each other , forcing each other to try the food we ordered. I remember the stares , lol. Well, we like guys ha ha ha. 

Both of us chose soup as our starters , since we don't feel like having salad.

We were pretty lucky since they just recently change their menu. So, I guess we had a taste of how the new cuisine they just introduced. Not to mention that the price is very affordable , and I could say it was pretty cheap overall. 

Velouté of  Pumpkin with Toasted Sunflower Seed, Cinnamon Crème Fraiche .

The name does impress me but actually, it was just Pumpkin Soup with toasted sunflower seeds which actually make it tasted different. It's less creamy than I thought , and it was overall good. I don't like my pumpkin soup gets too creamy , and cover up the taste. 

Have I mention that I love pumpkin?

Cappuccino of Wild Mushrooms and Black Olive Dust .

I have no idea how they actually blend the Cappucino based taste into this wild mushroom soup. I love how this bowl is made from scratch , and it was good. Unfortunately, the soup turn cold pretty fast. Pairing it with the complimentary bread they serve, it was superb!

I just realized that both of our soup are vegetarian , and it was a coincidence. Perhaps I'll go back to try out their Warm Seared Scallops and Prawn with fruit dressing Salad , because I heard that it could be claimed as the best Salad , ever. 

As our mains, we both had meat of course. Carb based food are definitely not worth it in these kind of restaurants . 

Grilled Marinated Alive Farm Free Range Chicken Supreme, Roasted Mediterranean Vegetables in Tomato Case, Confit Garlic Puree, Basil Scented Oil and Jus .

Okay, I got the name from the official website. It's longer than it should be, lol. 

Zhiwei chose Poultry as her mains because I told her that fish are not worth the try. I had a bad experience of restaurants serving the dish with the fishy smell, and end up I have to give up on it. This dish was pretty plain and I think their main attraction falls on the sauce which is rich in Basil . I never thought Garlic and Basil could combine so well. The texture of the chicken was at the right point.

Grilled Tenderloin of Black Angus Beef, Pommes au Dauphinoise, Fricassee of Wild Mushroom, Glazed Baby Onions, Morel Jus, Truffle Scented Oil 

I order Tenderloin as my main since I feel like eating steak. Steak is normally not my choice since I am very bad at cutting it. As princess as it sound, I really hate doing it but I think I get better over the years. I couldn't give too much credit to this piece because it was just fine to me. The medium-rare hits the point but I think the sauce was a disappointment. Maybe , there's not enough of truffle oil.

We asked them to clear the plates after we are done with our food so we have more place. We didn't order any alcohol due to the lack of choice. Oh well, maybe we were too filled to think about it.

We then order our dessert and it was disappointing that the ones we wanted to try is unavailable for that night so we settled down with a simple one out of them all. 

Chocolate Spiced Torte, Lemon Sherbet, Light Hazelnut Custard .

Lemon Sherbet is all mine because it's a no no for me since it's chocolate. I am still dying to try the Teh Tarik Ginger Panna Cotta with Kaya Butter Toast since it's the speciality in their dessert menu. It's a pity though. WHY IS IT UNAVAILABLE T_____________T

Overall, the ambiance , the food and the service is fine. I couldn't give it a full stars on the board but it's still better than average. Looking at the pictures still make me feel fascinated about the view.

Just because the twins tower is the main attraction of the whole city doesn't mean we should always focus on the beauty of it the whole time. The other side of the city may offers more even if they do not have the main subject. It's still equally beautiful. 

And I think, this should apply to people in reality. 

Do not always focus on the main. Do take a look at the people surrounding you whom may turn out to be better than you thought. It's sickening how some people take looks and materialism on the first checklist when they make friends and how they act around people at times. Do not judge the book by the cover actually applies now.

The Skulls in my wardrobe.

One thing bad about basic tops , especially tees is either you will look comfortably good in it or you are wearing your pajamas out. The simplicity of a tshirt allows us to wear it with different bottoms to make it a different outfit. That's why I'm stocking up different type of tshirts - different colours, V neck and round neck basic tops to play safe for my wardrobe. 

I know that I always choose crazy prints and tight dresses but it's really inconvenient for me to run errands or wear it to uni , because it's really overdressing to the wrong venue. 

I don't exactly like simple things ; so just a plain tshirt is a no no. 

A fully coordinated ootd from Raqul Reed except for the pants. 

It was a casual day out and I want it to be simple , so I put on a tee and crochet lace shorts. I know that other girls would look extremely girly in lace things , but I just don't. Cheers to the unfriendly vibe I have , lol.

What I meant by , I don't like things simple -

I think there can always be surprises even if it's simple. So I bring this tee into Raqul Reed's collection . I don't always wear tops from RR ; but I particularly like this one so I kept both colours each for myself. 

It's not just suitable for casual day out with shorts. It could be easily paired it with skinny jeans and different kind of skirts to give out a different feel. The best is, I could even wear this to the beach with bikini inside. 

Perhaps it might be too revealing for some girls, but it definitely will still look great if you wear a tanktop under this tshirt. But if you have the assets , just flaunt it. 

I didn't wear it like this because I think I have the assets , I am just afraid of the heat. The weather is so horrible in Malaysia in the noon. 

The skull envelope clutch is also something that is easily match. I could carry with any coordinate. I look how the skull badge make the whole clutch look more interesting . No way for a plain black clutch for me. If it's plain, it must have a subject.

I hope this short entry could actually explain to you how would I like to dress with things that themed simplicity. And, you could see how I don't like everything to go in monotone and having no focus in the whole coordinate. 

If you realized , this whole outfit is actually skull themed. 

I also want to show that skull prints or images doesn't necessarily make you look more bad ass. It could actually bring a different feel in your outfit if you pair it well.
